Restoration of 1985 GTV6 starts

The car is back

Bretts car is now back and the mechanical side of the restoration/modification has started, all parts removed are going to be powder coated / replated as needed, some uprated items are also going to be used.Every component of the front and rear suspension has been removed for refurbishment including the dedion bar which has been powder coated.

Gtv6 update

The bodyshop has been making some good progress with brett's gtv6.Brett wanted any rust removed so an indepth inspection was carried out with some "hidden rust" being found, one of the pictures shows the rust within the sill which looked ok.New wings and outer sills have been fitted along with a spare wheel well.Due to panels being scarce a good secondhand rear panel has been fitted and any other panel has been made.

The car has now been stripped back to bare metal and being prepared for paint.

Interior

Whilst the body has made good progress the Trimmer has finished the interior with the exception of the roof lining. The results are very good and should finish the car off nicely.

The engine bay:

The car is going to have a colour change which means spraying under the bonnet. The engine has been removed and then the engine bay stripped for ease of painting. The shell is going to be soda blasted to show up areas that are going to need attention.

There is a lot of work involved in stripping the engine bay,it may not look much but every wire  - pipe bracket and grommet has to be removed.

Lots of progress :
The interior has been removed and is being sent away to be retrimmed in leather and alcantera.

The car has now been stripped of all external trim, all interior including dashboard and engine has been removed. The engine bay has been totally stripped for painting as well.

We are currently starting a complete resoration of a 1985 GTV6 for one of our long time customers Brett. His brief is to make a bespoke car as good as new ie use as many new parts as possible. The car is structually very good and recently motd but the bodywork lets it down. The car is to be stripped to a rolling shell, soda blasted to bare metal and repainted red,we are also going to be fitting a 3.0 ltr 75 engine as well as other mechanical uprgrades.the interior is going to be retrimmed in leather and alcantera.Sourcing parts will be the biggest challenge.
